depends on your definition of hardcore gamer.. I think you expose yourself more as a 'jack of all games, master of non' - which arguably IS a hardcore gamer.

so lets assume that your right, and on average most people will play a game for 3/4 months then move on...

this provokes a few questions..

is there an attention span with any game.. regardless of how they 'improve' it ?
if this is the case then it matters not how they improve a game to keep its existing players happy, they should concentrate on improving it to attract new players

Will you view a purchasable expansion to Guildwars as a NEW game? or will you view it as GOING BACK TO AN OLD GAME ?
If its true that alot of lost GW players will come back again to try the expansion regardless of why they left, then they should concentrate on making expansions every 3 months to actually KEEP their current players and GROW it to include lost players and new players.

I personally think.. In view of the fact that its going to be millions of years before we see a new expansion.. A.net are no doubt assuming that they will lose all players regardless of what they do and gambling all their effort into winning those players back in the next expansion.

This would also be a good reason why they are leaving it so long to release a new expansion.. so that they have more time to fill it TO THE MAX.. it will be basically Guildwars 2!

I think this is what snipes is trying to get at... the game IS brilliant, but small!.. and they must re-think their strategy on releasing new content if they are to keep long term players resulting in a more competative PVP.

Yep BF2 didn't work on my system but from what I hear and read, I couldn't get that new graphics card fast enough.
